Working in the cancer registry means some days I look up and realize the workday is over when it feels like I just got started! I am so busy tapping away at those keys, I always wish I had more time to polish my work and focus on meeting preparation.

Recently, I had a client meeting that I was preparing for and wanted to make sure I felt as confident as possible. So, I turned to good old Google for help. I ended up finding some great meeting preparation tips that helped me and might interest you…

1. START OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT
Waste no time! Share meeting details, such as an agenda or handout, with all attendees ahead of time to prevent wasted time. This will also give people time to think about the topic and generate ideas in advance that might accelerate the discussion.

2. INTRODUCE YOURSELF
Introductions are key to a successful interaction with your client. Even if you’ve met before, never assume everyone knows you, your team members or what you do. It is also helpful to outline key takeaways from the last time you met to ensure everyone is on the same page.

3. APPEAL TO EVERYONE
I liked this meeting preparation tip a lot! Your presentation should appeal to all attendees. The use of charts, visual aids and images can help with your discussion and keep people interested in what you have to say.

These meeting preparation tips can help you look and feel more confident when you work with clients. I know they’ve helped me polish my work and hope they will help you as well!
